humility

“Who has seen the wind? Neither you nor I but when the trees bow down their heads, the wind is passing by.”—Christina Rossetti

“By bringing nature into our lives, we invite humility.”–Richard  Louv

“Thank you” is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding. -Alice Walker

“Humility, that low, sweet root, from which all heavenly virtues shoot.”—Thomas Moore

Our Eternal Nature

our eternal nature

When I saw this tree trunk, I saw immediately the figure 8, or the eternal symbol. Even in its brokenness (cut off limbs), it spoke to me of our eternal nature, something which exists even when our body perishes.

“There is an eternal landscape, a geography of the soul; we search for its outlines all our lives.”—Josephine Hart

Blooming for only 1 day

Blooming for only 1 day

“The nature of This Flower is to bloom.”—Alice Walker

These irises bloom only for a day. It seems that while it is happily in bloom, it thinks not of tomorrow. It experiences freedom in the present moment.

“A flower has a short life span, yet it offers itself wholeheartedly to others. It offers its own nectar to the bees — and this brings happiness.” -Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi)

My Mother’s Pond

My Mother's Pond

“A pool is the eye of the garden in whose candid depths is mirrored its advancing grace.”—Lousie Bebe Wilder

I do believe the pond in my mother’s garden is a kind of eye, magnet and fascination.
Birds splash at the base of the waterfall taking a bath from time to time.
Hummingbirds dart here and there sipping from the flowers.
The colorful koi chase each other around and sometimes pop their heads up out of the water.
The lavender water irises glow.
The sounds of the waterfall refresh.
Dragonflies balance on the tall grasses.
Butterflies happily visit the flowers.

Circle Dance

Tickling the green

A beautiful spring day and sacred circle dancing led by Maureen and Andrea at my neighborhood park…

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul.”
—John Muir

“I know nothing, except what everyone knows if there when Graces dances, I should dance.”—W. H. Auden

“The nature of God is a circle of which the center is everywhere and the circumference is nowhere.”—Empedocles

“When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.”—Michael Bridge
