A digital photo-collage of Mother Mary and her mother, St. Anne.
This is a smoke tree. The leaves are decorated with rainbows from the radiant spider webs. I had meant to focus on the spider web, but this is what happened, blurry spiderweb. It was totally accidental. I didn’t even notice the rainbows when I took the photo. There may have been a bit of dew on them. I was seeing something different. When I got home to look at the photo on the camera, I was delighted by the magic in it even if what I was focusing on was blurry.
I like to be around children. They delight in the things I have forgotten or am too busy to notice. They remember how to live in the kingdom.
I shared in this child’s joy when she showed me her treasured feather in sky blue. Joy is something we can generate and share with others. She generated and passed on her joy to me.
I am reminded of these words from Amma:
There is a disorder called pareidolia, seeing shapes in clouds. When I was a child, I used to spend a lot of time gazing up at the clouds while lying on grass. Sometimes Divine can make use of our disorders to bring light and inspiration.
When I saw this white feather, it seemed like another one of those Divine hooks and messages that I should pay attention to, a letter from God. Its whiteness, luminosity, and gentle fluttering made me see it as a peace flag. Later I thought of a quote by Amma in Awaken Children! Vol IX, pp 106-107, © MA Center:
“Be thirsty heart,
seek forever without a rest.
Let this soundless longing
hidden deep inside you
be the source
of every word you say.
The time has come to turn your heart
into a temple of fire.
Your essence is gold hidden in dust.
To reveal its splendor
you need to burn in the fire of love.”
