Come Near My Shadow

“Don’t go away, come near.
Don’t be faithless, be faithful.
Find the antidote in the venom.
Come to the root of the root of yourself.”

—Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi, from “Love is a Stranger”, translated by Kabir Helminsky

this dragonfly or damselfly
reminds me of
the light
of pin-point concentration and awareness
piercing through the darkness…

sitting in the light
the sun reveals shadows unowned
both negative and positive

sitting in the silence
one can reclaim the fragments of self
even positive shadows
of doors shut

what one does not know about
makes one blind
the habitual reactions drive one into autopilot mode
and stuckness
life being shaped by habit energies

aspects of darkness
can become a tool
a vehicle to wholeness
possibly giving one more understanding
more strength
more power and
by way of the brokenness
