This is a collaborative group collage I did with my friends for Amma’s Circle of Love Letters one year.
“Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
“On Christmas day, it is customary to welcome infant Jesus by setting up a manger in front of our homes. But the real birth of infant Jesus has to happen in our hearts. There is a child within all of us. Christmas is an occasion that allows us to discover and nurture that child. When we have a child’s innocence, enthusiasm and optimistic faith, we will not only become heirs to heaven, but will also be able to create heaven on earth. If we are ready to set aside at least a part of the money to be spent on Christmas gifts and celebrations in the service of the poor and suffering, that would indeed be the real Christmas celebration in Amma’s eyes.”—
Amma, from talk given Christmas 2002
“You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait,
just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked. It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.”
