Reflect Essence of Beauty

“Let our souls turn into a mirror longing to reflect the essence of beauty”- Rumi

“Having a selfless attitude will uplift us. By helping others we are, in fact, helping ourselves. On the other hand, every time we do a selfish action, we are harming ourselves. Learn to bless everyone. Don’t ever curse anyone, because a human being is not just a bundle of flesh and blood. There is consciousness at work within everyone. That consciousness is not a separate, isolated entity; it is part of the whole, a Supreme Unity. Whatever we do is reflected in the Whole, in the one Universal Mind – and it returns to you with the same intensity. Whenever you do a good or bad action, it is reflected in the Universal Consciousness. Therefore, learn to be selfless and learn how to send blessings to everyone. Pray for everyone, because we need the support and blessings of all of Creation for our upliftment. When we pray for others the entire universe prays for us; and when we bless others the whole universe blesses us, because man is one with the cosmic energy.”—Amma, Awaken Children, Vol. VIII

Mind’s Eye

Mind's Eye

“When someone deeply listens to you
the room where you stay
starts a new life
and the place where you wrote
your first poem
begins to glow in your mind’s eye.
It is as if gold has been discovered!”

—John Fox

“Getting centered in the light within, and then seeing from the consciousness of light, is actually a “light treatment”. When you see from the consciousness of light, you project a flow of light energy that becomes a healing influence. The Hebrew word for “eye” is ayin, which means “fountain.” There is a natural flowing forth of transcendent light from the eye. In other words, you will no longer see light—you see with light. The statement that the eyes are the windows of the soul is apropos here.”—Eric Butterworth, “The Creative Life”

Remember me

Remember me

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”—Luke 23:42

“and gave thanks to God for it [the bread]. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.””—Corinthians 11:24

I am thinking that every object in the universe is pervaded by Christ consciousness. Perhaps, Jesus meant, when you look at bread (or any food), remember that I am in it, the whole cosmos is in it: the air, the rain, the sunshine, the earth. I am with you. Looking ahead, Jesus knew he was going to die soon, and maybe this thought of remembering him in the bread was a way to comfort the disciples that he is still with them in Spirit whenever they ate. It was to bring awareness.

“When I hold a piece of bread, I look at it, and sometimes I smile at it. The piece of bread is an ambassador of the cosmos offering nourishment and support. Looking deeply into the piece of bread, I see the sunshine, the clouds, the great earth. Without the sunshine, no wheat can grow. Without the clouds, there is no rain for the wheat to grow. Without the great earth, nothing can grow. That is why the piece of bread that I hold in my hand is a wonder of life. It is there for all of us. We have to be therefore it.”—Thich Nhat Hanh

“A cloud never dies.”—Thich Nhat Hanh

Watching

Can’t say I’m very good at the art of witnessing, but one time when my mind was especially turbulent, and my thoughts seemed to whirl by at 100 miles per minute, I suddenly found myself as if inside a golden bubble, and able to watch my thoughts go by without being attached to them, as if I were someone else. It was incredibly peaceful to watch these thoughts, as if my thoughts were a movie, not part of me. Seeing my thoughts, but not being yanked by them, not judging them. Wish I could make this happen when I want it to, but, unfortunately it was a one-time event, pure grace. But it got me thinking about practicing watching my thoughts…

“The mind and its thoughts come and go. They are unreal and impermanent. They are like the ephemeral clouds of the sky and the waves of the ocean. They cannot touch your consciousness. Beyond the surface, your consciousness remains pure and untouched. That Pure Consciousness, which is eternally aware of all that happens, is the Witness, the Sakshi, of everything.”

—Amma, “Awaken Children, Vol. 7”, p. 56

“Don’t chase after your thoughts as a shadow follows its object. Find joy and peace in this very moment.”

—Thich Nhat Hanh

Unstoppable

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds; your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be”.

God-Colored Glasses

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” are familiar words of Jesus’ Beatitudes.  In an illumined state you see God.  This does not mean you see “the man in the skies.”  But you see from the consciousness of God.  You see with “God-colored glasses.”  Your seeing projects the light of Spirit.  At the start of every day the wise student will take a few moments to become established in the light, hold this realization: “And God said, ‘Let there be Light.’”—Eric Butterworth, “The Creative Life”

Heart Space

heart-shaped spider web

I’ve never seen a spider web
with a heart space in the middle
of what a soul might desire
spaciousness
freedom
stillness
emptiness yet fullness
empty of preconceptions
emptiness
empty of what (a separate existence)
clear of clutter
room for Divine
space to breathe
