Unstoppable

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds; your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be”.

Soaring to Freedom

winged migration collage

This is a photo collage of some pelicans I saw at the beach and some stained glass. When I saw the birds it reminded me of a chant sung by Libana:

“There’s a river of birds in migration, a nation of women with wings.”
There’s a river of birds in migration, a nation of children with wings.
There’s a river of birds in migration, a nation of people with wings.”

Listen to a clip sung by Libana:

The 1st line of this chant is attributed to Oregon Women’s Land Community. I’m not sure who added the 2nd-3rd lines. I heard it on a Native American Chant CD. Sometimes we sing this chant at a Taize gathering in my home.

A friend of mine shared a Youtube video about a winged migration, with music by Nick Cave. I am touched by the beauty, focus, determination and grace of these geese..

Were toiling upward in the night.
Standing on what too long we bore
With shoulders bent and downcast eyes,
We may discern – unseen before,
A path to higher destinies.”

—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)

Forgiving Yourself

When I saw this white feather, it seemed like another one of those Divine hooks and messages that I should pay attention to, a letter from God. Its whiteness, luminosity, and gentle fluttering made me see it as a  peace flag. Later I thought of a quote by Amma in Awaken Children! Vol IX, pp 106-107, © MA Center:
