Reflection Word: Sabbath

could be time in church, meditation, prayer

could be a walk with no destination in mind,  just savoring each breath, tree and flower, taking the time

Our Father in Aramaic

Earlier this year, a teacher, Joan,  held a several week session where we learned a little about the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic. Before we started the first session, we all lit a candle for our intentions. Joan read a passage from the Bible where Jesus is inviting Peter to walk across the water to him. So Peter walked out to him, but he lost faith, and began to sink. We are all a little like that. So we held Jesus’ hand as we walked on water holding his hand to keep afloat.

Each week we learned how to pronounce Jesus’ prayer in Aramaic. The power of just the sound was evident, even without our full understanding of the meaning.
