These fluorescent-orange flower like a stop symbol for me
ability to stop what I am doing is an important practice
so when I notice I am off-target, I can stop, make adjustments
stop when the day is done, and not over-do, be in balance

“…take the opportunity to stop and listen to the sounds of Sacred Unity all around you. In each, there is a drop of the One, and in that drop is the ocean of all divine qualities.”

As I watched this turtle, I imagined he was speaking:
“You, O Lord, are my lamp, my God who lightens my darkness. With you I can break through any barrier, with my God I can scale any wall. As for God, his ways are perfect; the word of the Lord, purest gold. He indeed is the shield of all who make him their refuge. For who is God but the Lord? Who is a rock but our God? The God who girds me with strength and makes the path safe before me.”
-Psalm 18: 29-33
“For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock. .”
—Psalm 27:5

so concentrated
it became so poor, empty of self
that the winter roots sprouted wings

“It is God’s power that carries us through every moment. If we are aware of this, we will spontaneously be humble, our attitude towards the Almighty will be transformed into an attitude of worship, our focus on Him will blossom with our every step and we will be successful in our efforts.”
—Amma, “Awaken Children”
This was a video taken on New Year’s Eve a few years ago. Halved lemons were scooped and replaced with oil and a wick. We placed the lit oil lamps into the pond with prayers for peace and happiness.

“Swift As A Star Flicker
Prayer, it does ascend
Up from the mind into the air
Through the highest cumulus
In an orange dusky skyAnd higher still, like a tailed comet
Out of earth’s realm of spiraling starlights
And into the black of space,
And higher stillPast a rare jeweled galaxy
With stars like sapphires, rubies, emeralds and diamonds
Where a nebulous cloud, a violet mountain births
Explodes new stars forthA factory place, a sandcastle of space
And higher still,
To the top of the highest universe-
That second skySwift as a star flicker
To God’s ear
An ear pressed close to the keyhole
Of that other Kingdom’s doorAn ear so fine
That it can hear
Unspoken prayer clear
As a trumpet’s mighty blareAnd God’s spirit reaches forth
Heaven descends
To companion the soul
That prays.”—Zellie M. Quinn
