Repetition does not have to be boring

repetition can give beautiful structure
and an orderedness
can bring comfort

the repetition of a positive phrase, mantra,
can have the effect of stilling the mind
of de-cluttering the mind
of polishing the soul
of reflecting the world the way it is
of seeing the truth
not distorted
of feeling God’s presence
of practicing concentration

repetition of a good habit or practice
can be like steady nailing of your boat,
so when the storms come,
you will have a solid boat
you won’t sink

Watered My Spirit

“O Divine Presence, you have danced your way into my innermost being. O Mystery of Life, you have tended and nurtured me. You have enriched my spirit and watered my dryness. You have poured your abundant love into the veins of my soul. In the darkest of nights, you have surrounded me with your love. O Divine Presence, your radiant energy surges through my being. I bow to the profound mystery of your sacred life within me.”

Joyce Rupp, “The Cup of Our Life”

Haunting

Ghost Trees

“Like an ethereal presence
You hang out everywhere.
Not a naughty or scary goblin,
Rather, an inquisitive observer,
A concerned, caring custodian,
Visiting every niche and closet
Where we stuff the undesired
Of our messy, blemished lives,
You haunt territories we ignore,
Hoping we will find you there.”

Feminine Energy

Feminine ENergy Card

In my last post about Our Lady of Guadalupe, I shared Our Lady’s comforting words. One day I was making a collage of Our Lady to send to someone going through a difficult time. The background lines I placed behind her,  made me think of power and light. It reminded me of Sr. Macrina Wiedkerkehrs words about feminine energy in her book A Tree Full of Angels, Seeing the Holy in the Ordinary, published by Harper Collins:
