A New Dawn

“I rarely let the word No escape
From my mouth
Because it is so plain to my soul
That God has shouted, Yes! Yes! Yes!
To every luminous movement in Existence.”

—Hafiz quoted in “Power of Intention”, Dr. Wayne Dyer

“The radiance in some places is so great as to be fairly dazzling . . . every crystal, every flower a window opening into heaven, a mirror reflecting the Creator.”—John Muir

This reminds me of the section in the Christmas carol, “O Holy Night”:
“A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
“Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep. ”

My Mother’s Pond

My Mother's Pond

“A pool is the eye of the garden in whose candid depths is mirrored its advancing grace.”—Lousie Bebe Wilder

I do believe the pond in my mother’s garden is a kind of eye, magnet and fascination.
Birds splash at the base of the waterfall taking a bath from time to time.
Hummingbirds dart here and there sipping from the flowers.
The colorful koi chase each other around and sometimes pop their heads up out of the water.
The lavender water irises glow.
The sounds of the waterfall refresh.
Dragonflies balance on the tall grasses.
Butterflies happily visit the flowers.

Go

There’s a scripture:

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”—Mark 16:15

But I think “The Book of Nature” also has its gospel. I think this flowering dogwood is saying “yes”.

“Dear seasons that pass over our fields and through our hearts, you are the word of God spoken to us from the cathedral of the great outdoors. Stir up our love for life. Fill us with joy and passion, wisdom and stillness. Reveal to us our own endurance, patience, and ability to trust. Lead us into reflection and solitude as we move through the years held in the arms of mystery. Teach us to say “Yes” to the unfolding work of the Creator in our lives.”

—from “Circle of Life” by Joyce Rupp and Macrina Wiederkehr

Frog Scriptures

At the pond,
I went out on a quest
for frogs
I did see ~fleetingly~
hundreds of frogs hopping,
leaving water jewels on pads
like diamonds
evidence of their having been there
I asked them
if any would sit still
so I could take closer looks
but NONE would after much pleading
even though I told them I don’t eat frogs
