Essence

The Indwelling One is our prosperity. We can water the seeds of peace in ourselves and others so it may prosper and flourish.

“O people of the Light, awaken to the knowledge that lives within you! Do you know your destiny- to be a light unto the worlds, a bearer of peace and harmony?”—Psalm 107

We are made, the scriptures of all religions assure us, in the image of God. Nothing can change our original goodness. Whatever mistakes we have made in the past, whatever problems we may have in the present, in every one of us the uncreated spark in the soul remains untouched, ever pure, ever perfect. Even if we try with all our might to douse or hide it, it is always ready to set our personality ablaze with light.”—Eknath Easwaran, p. 260, “Words to Live By”, Nilgiri Press

This Moment Is Yours

collage, present moment

“Look to this day, for it is life, the very life of life! In its brief course lie all the verities and all the realities of your existence: the bliss of growth; the glory of action; the splendor of beauty. For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision. But today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore to this day!”

– Hindu Scriptures

Towards the One

From the Book of Nature, all paths lead towards the One…

“Reading Scripture is a way of going to “the inexhaustible wellspring by which God gives himself to thirsting human beings” (Origen, third century). The Bible is a “letter from God to creatures” that enables them to discover God’s heart in God’s words.” (Gregory the Great, sixth century)

—Brother Roger of Taize, “Prayer for Each Day.”
