Go

There’s a scripture:

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”—Mark 16:15

But I think “The Book of Nature” also has its gospel. I think this flowering dogwood is saying “yes”.

“Dear seasons that pass over our fields and through our hearts, you are the word of God spoken to us from the cathedral of the great outdoors. Stir up our love for life. Fill us with joy and passion, wisdom and stillness. Reveal to us our own endurance, patience, and ability to trust. Lead us into reflection and solitude as we move through the years held in the arms of mystery. Teach us to say “Yes” to the unfolding work of the Creator in our lives.”

—from “Circle of Life” by Joyce Rupp and Macrina Wiederkehr

Focus Word: Wise

“Wisdom is radiant and unfading, and she is easily discerned by those who love her, and is found by those who seek her. She hastens to make herself know to those who desire her. One who rises early to seek her will have no difficulty, for she will be found sitting at the gate. To fix one’s thought on her is perfect understanding, and one who is vigilant on her account will soon be free from care, because she goes about seeking those worthy of her, and she graciously appears to them in their paths, and meets them in every thought.”

Reflection Word: Sabbath

new leaf

could be a day out in Nature to refresh and renew, enjoying the great cathedral of the outdoors

could be as short as one refreshing breath

could be time in church, meditation, prayer

could be a walk with no destination in mind,  just savoring each breath, tree and flower, taking the time

I found some new leaves nestled in a pink “nest” to savor

Towards the One

Towards the One

“All numbers are multiples of one, all sciences converge to a common point, all wisdom comes out of one center, and the number of wisdom is one.”

– Paracelsus

“I tell them there are no backwaters. There is only one river, and we are all in it. Wave your arms, and the ripples will eventually reach me.”

— Scott Russell Sanders in “Writing from the Center”

Print in Clearest Lines, O Lord

“Your words to me are life and health; Pour strength into my soul; Enable, guide and teach my heart to reach its perfect goal. Your words to me are light and truth; from day to day they show their wisdom, passing earthly lore, as in their truth I grow. Your words are perfected in one, Yourself, the living Word; within my heart your image print in clearest lines, O Lord.”

– hymn by George Currie Martin, 1865- 1937
