One day I noticed a rainbow on a picture of a Biblical scene in my house. It were if the light were on my own heart. The picture is a print of a painting in Switzerland, “Teach us how to pray”.
I think this image planted a seed within, of my wanting to know more deeply what Jesus meant when he taught his disciples the “Our Father.” In the spring of 2014 I attended a weekly gathering hosted by a woman, Joan, who had studied the Lord’s Prayer using the book, “Prayers of the Cosmos: Meditations on the Aramaic Words of Jesus” by Neil Douglas Klotz. Each week, we studied and learned how to pronounce one line from Jesus’ prayer.
You can hear it one line at a time at Neil Douglas-Klotz website. We also listened to his CD: “Original Prayer: Teachings and Meditations on the Aramaic Words of Jesus”.
You can hear Neil speak the whole prayer here:
Studying this prayer from the Aramaic point of view gave me a new perspective and appreciation of Jesus.
